Series 2000
Multi-channel VHF and VHF/UHF radio communication equipment
Application
Series 2000 represents a new-generation digital multichannel VHF and VHF/UHF radio communication
equipment to be used in air traffic control systems for civil and state aviation.
Digital technology enhances radio communication and data transmission in ACARS and VDL 2 modes.
Design and modifications
Featuring modular design, Series 2000 radio communication equipment represents a scalable solution suitable both for
small airports and for huge multichannel radio centers.
Configuration of radio transmitters and transceivers includes power unit, transmitter-receiver module,
control and indication module and power amplifier. The radio receiver consists of a power unit,
transmitter-receiver module, control and indication module.
Such hardware configuration makes it possible to use Series 2000 radio communication equipment
in combined transmitting-receiving centers by means of using transceivers or radio terminals.
A required number of radio receiving and transmitting devices is used in separated receiving and transmitting centers.
The Series 2000 radio communication equipment requires no maintenance or calibration and adjustment in case of module
replacement.
The Series 2000 radio frequency channel design offers high performance and reliability.
When considering radio receivers RX2000V, term ‘multi-channel’ gets conceptually new meaning as four- (eight-) channel
receiver is capable to receive signals simultaneously over four (eight) independent frequency channels throughout entire
frequency range and produce low frequency output over eight communication lines.
Series 2000 radio transmitters and transceivers provide the possibility to select capacity between 5 and 50 W.
The modifications of VHF/UHF radio communication equipment supporting FHSS mode are used to control the state aviation flights. A specific program reads out, stores and copies the groups of settings and a preset configuration of a device. Any selector switches or jumpers are not required.
The software for Series 2000 radio communication equipment offers the possibility to add new functions, expand technical capabilities or adapt the hardware to the specific application without any design changes. The radio transmitters and transceivers are 19"/2 wide, while the radio receivers are 19"/4 wide.
The height of all radio communication devices is 3U. So, up to 24 radio transmitters or transceivers can be installed
into a standard 19” rack.
Control and monitoring
All radio communication equipment is interconnected through LAN interface and shares built-in
test system for basic parameters monitoring. The detailed information about current device status
is shown by the LED indicators and displayed on character-numerical display.
Radio communication equipment offers both local control using front panel buttons and remote
control through RS-485, Ethernet, USB or low-frequency interface. For software-based operation
and configuration settings loading, radio communication equipment offers USB port for PC connection.
With such remote control and monitoring capabilities, radio communication equipment
can be controlled from one or several control centers, thus offering new possibilities for radio networking.
Functional features of radio communication equipment
When used in areas with high noise environment induced by operating radio transmitter, radio receivers offer the possibility to select input signal gain, thus ensuring low intermodulation interference.
Noise suppressor supports two operating modes. It may operate based on level of radio frequency input signal or S/N ration of audio signal. If required, use may combine both noise reduction criteria.
The radio receiver offers possibility to listen own signal or connect external audio recording hardware.
The transceivers and radio transmitters also incorporate safety function for antenna-feeder line failure with automatic performance recovery after elimination of failure.
The radio communication equipment meets ICAO requirements regarding offset carrier frequency.
With integrated Pin-diode switch, transceiver is capable to operate with single transceiver antenna eliminating the need in external antenna relay.
If radio transmitter encounters high ambient temperature, low supply voltage or worse SWR (before idle mode and closing) in antenna-feeder line, transmitter output capacity reduces automatically and recovers to normal operation after elimination of abovementioned conditions.
Transmitting-receiving module includes micro computer, receiver and exciter. The transmitting-receiving module provides the following functions: demodulation of received signals, data encoding and decoding,
modulated signal output, control and monitoring of power unit, power amplifier and control & indication module as well as data acquisition and output over low-frequency interface, RS-485 interface, Ethernet or USB.
Radio communication equipment can operate from AC or DC power source, or simultaneously from both sources provided that AC mains is used as primary power source while DC mains as backup power source.
