RMP-200 NON-DIRECTIONAL RADIO BEACON
Purpose
Non-directional radio beacon RMP-200 is intended for non-directional radiation of HF
oscillations of one of frequencies in the range of 190 to 1750 kHz,
modulated by identification and voice messages signal, that provide onboard an aircraft, equipped with the radio compass, the following:
- Identification of the radio beacon;
- Calculation of azimuth (relative bearing) of an aircraft relatively site of the beacon;
- Receiving voice messages transmitted by ground-to-aircraft channel.
The radio beacon can be used as an outer non -directional radio beacon (ONDB), inner non-directional radio beacon (INDB), separate non-directional radio beacon, and also as a part of instrumental landing system (ILS).
Facilities and equipment of the radio beacon are placed at a site in the control room (container) or in a permanent heated building.
Design and Operational Principles of NDB
RMP-200 cabinet, input panel, lightning protection device, modem or radio modem are placed in control
room (container) or in technical building. PC with RMP-200 software (multi-console),
microphone amplifier and information panel are placed at ATC tower.
One PC provides control and monitoring of up to four Non-directional Radio Beacons or Marker beacons
and also remote control and signaling of up to four diesel-power generators.
If using RMP-200 for both runway directions, opposite directions blocking is carried out via software.
If using other types of radio beacons for opposite directions, digital I/O card should be is installed in multi-console PC.
I/O card output circuit has clean contacts and input circuit has optocouplers.
Non-directional radio beacon equipment and marker radio beacon equipment are functionally independent.
Radio beacons are controlled via Programmed-Controlled System or multi-console PC.
The radio beacon provides operation for homing with automatic transmitting of one -, two-, and three-letters identification signal.
À pilot (autopilot) directs an aircraft to the radio beacon using course director.
The capability of information transmitting from ATC tower to an aircraft by means of amplitude modulation of carrier is stipulated in the radio beacon. Amplitude modulation is made from microphone; identification signal is not transmitted in this case.
Multi-console switches the radio beacon to “Transmission” mode automatically when the microphone PTT button held down at the ATC tower.
Two identical transmitters are used in the radio beacon. Each of the transmitters can be plugged as main; the other one is stand -by in this case. Power amplifier of the stand –by transmitter is in switched off condition.
Outer and inner NDBs form a radio-technical landing system, which also includes outer and inner radio markers and DME/N transmitter-responder system. Separate non-directional radio beacon provides an aircraft approach to landing zone and to land.
NDB Technical Specifications
Control of the radio beacon can be local or remote.
Remote control is carrying out by wire (telephone) communication line with using of RC unit at the distance from the radio beacon 0,5 to 10 km.
Remote control is carried out by means of modems through dedicated communication line (two- or four-wired) or through telephone cable (two-wired) at the distance from the radio beacon up to 10 km.
Light and sound signaling about condition of the radio beacon is provided by information panel.
Time of turning onto operation of deployed radio beacon is not more than 30 seconds.
Operational mode of the radio beacon is continuous, round-the-clock, without constant presence of operational staff.
Delivery Set
Set of the documentation, kit of spares and kit of tools and accessories are included in delivery set.
By a customer wish NDB can be delivered with 100% spare parts (devices) kit.
The multi-channel Receiver RMP (NDB receiver) can be delivered optionally.
Receiver RMP operate in range from 190 up to 1750 kHz with a step of 100 Hz. Receiver RMP can be equipped with internal magnet
antenna or auxiliary external antenna. The receiver RMP measures field intensity of NDB and provides capability of listening of
the NDB Identification Signal.
If control and monitoring of diesel power-generator is necessary, RMP-200 cabinet can be completed with control and monitoring equipment.
The radio beacon can be completed T-shaped or umbrella antennas RMP and antenna RMM with an active reflector (or logo-periodic antenna RMM).
